Central: Homeowners repeatedly rescuing people after crashes on Greenwell Springs Rd.

CENTRAL — It’s such a dangerous stretch of roadway in Central that neighbors are having to run out their homes regularly to save people involved in serious crashes. The road runs between the 19,000 and 23,000 blocks of Greenwell Springs Rd., between Hooper and Wax Roads in the City of Central. 

UWK spoke to Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran who is sounding the alarm that something must be done to reduce and prevent further serious and deadly crashes.

UWK has covered numerous crashes on that stretch in the previous several months alone, including the death of Juan Guerra in early September. Guerra was a beloved father, a dedicated EMT, and a fire rescue employee at Angola’s Dept. of Corrections. 

Josh Bordelon has lived on the dangerous stretch of Greenwell Springs for roughly three years and said he personally has assisted with as many as a dozen wrecks that have happened within feet of his home, including Guerra’s deadly accident. …
