Dusty Johnson puts pressure on Senate as Farm Bill’s expiration nears

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Just over a month ago, Representative Dusty Johnson said a new Farm Bill was ”at the twenty-yard line.” A month later and not much has changed.

Back in November 2023, President Joe Biden signed the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act into law. This allowed the previously passed 2018 Farm Bill and its programs to continue an extra year through 2024. With this extension set to expire this coming Monday, a new bill is needed urgently, and while Representative Dusty Johnson previously said a deal was close to done, he’s now saying it’s on the Senate to get the job finished…
