Thousands gave, from $5 to $1 million to area nonprofits on Mohawk Valley Gives Day

More than 8,200 donors gave more than $5.2 million to nonprofits in Oneida, Herkimer and Otsego County through the third annual Mohawk Valley Gives day on September 20, organizers the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and the UpMobility Foundation announced Thursday.

That makes 2024 the biggest year yet for the fundraising campaign, which gave money to 325 participating nonprofit groups. Last year’s fundraising day raised a little over $2.4 million.

“The enthusiasm that we received from the community in support of Mohawk Valley Gives has been incredible and each year just gets better and better,” said Alicia Fernandez Dicks, president/CEO of the Community Foundation, in a statement. “The work of our nonprofit partners benefits everyone in our community and Mohawk Valley Gives has provided people the opportunity to show their support for organizations that have made a difference in their lives.”
