Yankees take American League East with win over Baltimore 10-1

BRONX, NY (New York Yankees App) – Aaron Judge went yard for the fifth straight game to pace the Yankees to a 10-1 win over Baltimore at the stadium on Thursday night. The win secured a second AL East title for the Yankees in three years. Judge hit his 58th home run of the season.

Giancarlo Stanton had a great night with four RBI that included his 27th home run of the season, left fielder Alex Verdugo also homered in the game. Stanton and Judge homered in the same game for the 14th time this year, tying Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in 1961 for the most in Yankees history.

“Coming up short last year, it stings” Judge said “It hurst just like any other year when you don’t win a World Series, but that one hurt a little but more. So we wanted to make a statement, come back here and put ourselves in good position going into the postseason.”

Gerrit Cole outpitched Corbin Burnes in a possible postseason preview. Making his last start before the playoffs, Cole (8-5) allowed two hits in 6 2/3 innings, struck out five and walked one, lowering his ERA to 3.41.
