Helene brings unprecedented devastation in Florida, coastal hazards to Texas

Hurricane Helene has made history, becoming the first major hurricane since the 1850s to strike Florida’s Big Bend region. With 140 mph winds and catastrophic flooding, residents are facing unprecedented devastation and a long road to recovery.

With strong winds at landfall, a devastating storm surge leading to widespread interior flooding in Florida, and additional flooding as far inland as Georgia and the Carolinas, Helene is leaving behind a catastrophe.
