The remnants of Helene will keep the clouds and occasional showers coming Sunday, but we will be looking at another tropical threat in the Gulf in the next seven days. Check the video forecast for the latest.
SUNDAY SHOWERS
Hurricane Helene’s remnant low will still be near enough to keep some clouds and showers in Alabama’s Sunday weather forecast. Rain will be light and of limited impact, and the best chance will set up near and north of Interstate 20 through the afternoon and evening.
Expect a cooler-than-normal kind of day with morning lows near 60 degrees and a high in the afternoon struggling to make it up to 80 degrees.
WARMER DAYS AHEAD
That remnant low will finally slide to the East Coast on Monday, but some clouds will linger in Alabama’s sky through the first part of the week. Monday and Tuesday will be drier days overall, but the clouds will keep temperatures near average for the end of September and the beginning of October.
Expect highs in the low-80s following morning lows in the lower 60s with a low chance of a brief shower especially north of Birmingham Monday and Tuesday.
It will get hotter and drier by Wednesday and Thursday. Fewer clouds will mean more sunshine and higher afternoon temperatures — potentially as hot as 85 to 88 degrees.
GULF STORM AGAIN?
The forecast from Friday into the weekend will heavily depend on what happens with a new feature we are watching headed for the Gulf of Mexico.
That will be one to watch for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida late next week into the weekend (Oct. 4-7).
