Russian Officials: Ukrainian Drones Cause Fires Across Russia

Over 100 Ukrainian drones were shot down across Russia on Sunday. The barrage, one of the largest since the invasion in February 2022, caused a wildfire and damaged an apartment building.

Volgograd, Voronezh, and Rostov regions saw the heaviest attacks. In Volgograd, 67 drones were downed, while in Voronezh, falling debris damaged an apartment block and a house. In Rostov, a wildfire broke out from falling debris.

Meanwhile, Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine was hit by 10 Russian airstrikes, injuring 13 civilians. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said the attacks damaged transport links and infrastructure.

Ukraine’s military has warned of potential Russian offensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian forces reportedly shot down 15 Russian drones overnight, with another five destroyed electronically.
