Pasadena Health Officer Mandates Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations for Health Care Workers

To curb the potential spread of infectious diseases in medical settings, Pasadena’s Acting Health Officer, Dr. Parveen Kaur, has announced a mandate for healthcare workers to receive both influenza and updated COVID-19 vaccinations, according to a statement made by the City of Pasadena’s official website. Highlighting the heightened risk faced by patients with underlying conditions and those frequenting healthcare facilities, the new order aims to implement protective measures against potential flu and COVID-19 complications.

Healthcare workers who have not been vaccinated by November 1, will be required to wear a well-fitted mask while in direct patient care areas, as per the City of Pasadena. While masks are recommended for all healthcare workers even those that have been vaccinated, the Pasadena Public Health Department is calling for patients, visitors, and clients in healthcare settings to wear masks such as N95s, KN95s, or KF94s, the department acknowledges the added layer of protection provided by proper masking.
