A welcoming Natick Powwow honors ancestors, the land & Chief Caring Hands

The renewed Natick Powwow on Saturday at Cochituate State Park honored ancestors of the Masssachusett Praying Indians, and reserved a special dance and prayers for the Naticksq Chief Caring Hands, the tribal leader who passed away in 2023.

The event is usually held annually, though had been put on hold since before the pandemic. A couple of hundred people—including tribal members, the general public, and Indigenous motorcycle club members—attended the traditional, emotional, and spirited event on the tribe’s ancestral land.
