Softball Roundup: Hurricane Helene delays games

Hurricane Helene derailed a lot of schedules for sports throughout the state, but Houston County teams were able to get a couple in before the weather hit.

Here’s a roundup of last week’s softball:

Houston County

Houston County’s series against Thomas County Central was cut short due to Hurricane Helene. They won on Tuesday 7-6, nearly allowing a comeback as they were up by 7-3. They also played two tournament games against Harris County (L 5-1) and Northside-Columbus (L 7-3).

Northside

The Lady Eagles were able to squeeze in the final games of their series against Veterans on Wednesday. They were swept by the Lady Warhawks in all three games, losing 12-0 on Tuesday and 17-0 and 8-0 on Wednesday.

Perry

Perry lost their spot at the top of Region 1-4A last week with an 11-5 loss to Wayne County, who took their place. The Yellow Jackets used two home runs to push themselves over the top. The Lady Panthers also won 11-2 against Peach County.

Veterans

The Lady Warhawks maintained their lead in Region 2-5A with a series sweep against Northside. They outscored the Lady Eagles 37-0 in their three games this week…
