At the annual MAC Conference held Sept 24-26 in Traverse City, Delta County Commissioner John Malnar was elected (6-1) as Region 1 representative. Region 1 encompasses the entire Upper Peninsula and there are 2 representatives; one spot now held by John Malnar and the other currently held by Joe Bonovitz of Gogebic County. Founded on Feb. 1, 1898, MAC is the only statewide organization dedicated to the representation of all county commissioners in Michigan. MAC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advances education, communication and cooperation among county government officials in Michigan.
