Driver fled deadly crash near downtown Phoenix because he ‘got scared,’ docs say

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police have arrested an alleged hit-and-run driver after a deadly crash last week near downtown Phoenix.

On Monday, Phoenix police officers announced the arrest of Luis Zuno Ybarra, 21, for leaving the scene of a serious injury or deadly crash.

Newly obtained court documents allege that Ybarra was driving a gray Nissan Sentra when he failed to yield while turning left at an intersection near 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

While turning, he reportedly struck a red Dodge Avenger, which lost control and went into oncoming traffic before colliding with a Datsun pickup truck. A black Jeep Compass then hit the Avenger and the pickup before striking a parked vehicle nearby. After the crash, police say Ybarra left the scene…
