MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — State leaders, lawmakers and advocates joined forces on Monday in Middletown to kick off the start of Domestic Violence Awareness month and mark an important anniversary.
30 years ago, the “Violence Against Women Act,” also known as VAWA, became law and changed the landscape for victims. It was the first comprehensive federal law that addressed violence against women by providing resources for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
