A dog named Toby is at the center of an investigation by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office.
The office issued civil investigative subpoenas last week, including to Facebook, in an effort to track down the person who sold Toby to an Ann Arbor pair, the office announced in a news release Monday. Officials believe the seller falsified vaccination records about the dog, sold as a corgi-mix, and misled the new owners. The Attorney General’s Office is asking anyone with information on the seller to come forward.
“Animal lovers want to provide homes for pets in need,” Nessel said in the release. “Unfortunately, bad actors sometimes take advantage of this generosity. When looking to adopt online, consumers need to be vigilant against those looking to deceive them.”…
