No. 3 Ohio State finally faced a team that could, at least on paper, compete with the Buckeyes on Saturday night. After three non-conference blowouts, the Buckeyes kept the momentum train rolling with a 38-7 win in East Lansing.
While it was ultimately a comfortable win for the Scarlet and Gray, some concerns came out of the game. For the second straight week, the defense got off to a slow start, allowing the Spartans to drive the field twice in the first half before forcing turnovers to keep the Green and White from scoring. Quarterback Will Howard threw his second interception in the last two games, giving Michigan State good field position and putting the defense in a tough spot.
Ohio State sorted things out at halftime, containing the Spartan offense while the offense built on the 24-7 lead with two third quarter touchdowns before the backups got some Big Ten action…
