ALBANY, NY — After what could only be considered a dreadful week for the Syracuse Mens Soccer team Syracuse headed to the state capital of Albany to take on the Great Danes. Where they bounced back from consecutive home defeats to Cornell and Wake Forest with a comfortable 3-1 win over UAlbany.
Coach Ian McIntyre made several changes to the Syracuse starting lineup, notably inserting highly-rated freshman defender Dominic Bell into the defense for his first start of the season, and debuting a new forward pairing of Daniel Burko and Michael Acquah. This meant dropping two regulars to the bench, senior forward Nicholas Kaloukian and freshman defender Chimere Omeze, both of whom had started every game prior.
McIntyre couldn’t have asked for a better start when in the 3rd minute, Albany goalkeeper Daniel Shannon spilled the ball into the path of the onrushing Burko, the Albany defense’s attempt at a clearance went straight to the feet of Braedon Smith, who fired the ball back at goal, beating Shannon at the near post…
