VENICE — The aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the city is a tale of two areas — one that was overwhelmed by storm surge and a much larger one that wasn’t.
The vast majority of Venice was out of the reach of the walls of water the storm pushed eastward and, with relatively little rain and wind to deal with, it returned to something pretty close to normal almost immediately, even though the city remained under a local declaration of emergency.
But nearer to the Gulf, life for many will be in upheaval for some time to come…
