AYDEN — Flash flooding impacted several locations in Ayden on Monday when drainage systems were overwhelmed by heavy rain late in the afternoon, town Assistant Manager Stephen Smith said.
“We had multiple areas in town that suffered some minor flash flooding between 5 and 6 on Monday, and we had over 2 inches of rainfall with almost a 10th of that falling in about 15 minutes time,” said Smith. “So, our systems were kind of overwhelmed with that amount of water and in that short amount of time.”
Smith said that there was high water on Magellan Court, portions of Snow Hill Street, on Allen Drive in Kennedy estates, on Washington Avenue by Veteran’s Park, on East Avenue, at the Skylight Inn and several other areas…
