October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and events throughout Lake County are helping drum up support for cancer survivors and fighters. Get out there and enjoy all the fun stuff for grown-ups and the kiddies this weekend and into next week.
Eustis’s First Friday FireTruckTober
This month’s First Friday street fest theme is “FireTruckTober.” On Oct. 4 from 6-9 p.m. in Downtown Eustis, city fire personnel will give children the chance to try on real bunker gear, meet Eustis firefighters and witness a fire sprinkler safety demonstration. There will also be a demonstration of how they use the jaws of life to rescue someone from a vehicle.
FireTruckTober also features live music from the Zack Denby band, a variety of food trucks and vendors lining the downtown streets and a bounce house for children to enjoy. Navigate to 111 N. Eustis St. Admission is free. Details: 352-483-5431.
LCMA’s ‘Bubbles and Brews’ and Stas Namin portraiture
Join LCMA for its Bubbles & Brews rock ‘n’ roll fundraiser featuring a solo exhibition by artist Stas Namin. Namin’s “Shakers, Breakers & Music Makers” highlights more than 60 of his musical and cultural heroes, some of the most charismatic personalities of the past 70 years. The event will also entertain guests with live music from the Roy Baker Band, auctions, raffles, prize drawings and, of course, Champagne and beer. Takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
