“Shortly after midnight at 12:10am today, 911 calls were received reporting a fire at 492 Summer Street.
First arriving fire crews reported fire extending from third floor windows on two sides (Sides C&D) of this three-story, wood-frame structure. There are three apartments in this residential dwelling, however the third floor apartment was unoccupied and undergoing renovations.
Fire crews advanced multiple hose lines to the third floor and attic. The fire was confined to the third floor and did not extend into the attic. There are ten displaced tenants between the first and second floors. The tenants were assisted by City of New Bedford Emergency Management and the American Red Cross will also be assisting them.
