OMAHA, Neb. — The Omaha community gathered on Thursday for the annual Blue Mass, honoring police, firefighters, medics, and those who have given their lives in the line of duty. The mass was celebrated with Archbishop George J. Lucas at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church.
The tradition, dating back to 1934, derives its name from the blue uniforms traditionally worn by law enforcement officers.
