ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time this fall, Illinois State redshirt junior TJ Barger has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, for his performance at the 2024 Badger Invitational.
In helping lead ISU to a tie for fourth place in the event hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Barger placed fourth individually, carding an under-par score in each of the three rounds of the tournament, opening with a three-under 69, which he followed with a two-under 70, and finishing with a one-under 71. His tournament score of 209 is a new career-low and is tied for the 24th-lowest tournament score in program history.
This season he has played in all four tournaments for the Redbirds, and through a dozen rounds his stroke average of 72.6 leads the team. He has carded a score at or under par in five of his 12 rounds, and for his career he has a 72.8 stroke per round average…
