WASHINGTON — For Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery, the next 48 hours are going to be challenging, as he and the coaching staff have to piece together their final team and trim the roster to 23 skaters by the Monday deadline.
The challenge comes from the fact that he’ll have to not only choose who to keep around to open the season, but will have to part ways with a few names that have taken the initiative to stand out and try to make the team.
“We’re going to have to get to 23, and there’s some waiver stuff that potentially comes into play,” Carbery said. “So yeah, difficult decisions. It’s hard this time of year… it always sucks.”…
