Deaf mountain bikers share tales and trails from festival

John Klish could not stop smiling.

Watching an enthusiastic, but quiet, group of 30 deaf mountain bikers queue up at the Flat Top Flyer chairlift at Powderhorn Mountain Resort on a breezy Sunday morning, Klish beamed a shared smile with his fellow deaf cyclists.

Years of hard work, planning, more hard work and more planning led to Klish’s festive face as the bikers awaited their lift rides to the summit of the ski area where they were set to sample Powderhorn’s array of downhill mountain bike trails…
