CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Plentiful sunshine will make a return behind what has been a mainly cloudy weekend! With help from an area of high pressure to our north, any remnant clouds have been forced south of the Lowcountry, and we will keep a clear and benign pattern around for tonight. Through Monday morning, low temperatures will have an easy time falling into the 60s areawide, with a few localized 50s possible further inland. Although we’re starting the day cool, afternoon highs should be the warmest we see for a while (mid 80s) under drier air and sunny skies.
We’ll bring in a stronger, dry cold front by Tuesday morning, which, at best, should increase our cloud cover later in the day. With a change in airmass expected, afternoon highs will moderate towards the low 80s on Tuesday, but should fall into the 70s starting midweek. Overnight lows during this period are forecast to fall into the 50s, with a few mid to upper 40s not out of the question along the I-95 corridor. Bearing any changes to Hurricane Milton’s path or spatial coverage early this week, cooler temperatures are favored through next weekend.

Continued strengthening is expected through Monday and Tuesday before an uptick in wind shear moderates its intensity. Significant impacts are likely in Central and South Florida regardless of intensity as a result of life-threatening storm surge, flooding and wind damage. Locally, a southerly shift in the track should reduce impacts across the Lowcountry, but gusty northeasterly winds and dangerous marine conditions can be expected…
