Suspected Armed Carjackers Arrested in Washington DC Following Joint Police Effort

In Washington, D.C., two people were arrested after an armed carjacking on Friday. The incident occurred early in the morning on the 5200 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE, when a man about to get into his car was suddenly threatened at gunpoint, according to a press release issued by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The attackers, armed and masked, demanded the victim’s keys and belongings. The victim complied, likely avoiding more harm. However, the suspects still fled with the stolen vehicle. Later that day, working with the Metropolitan Police, the U.S. Capitol Police located and recovered the vehicle in Southeast DC, arresting the suspects and restoring order.

Criminal charges were quickly filed against the two suspects. Taurian Anderson, 20, from Southeast DC, faces multiple charges, including Armed Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer.
