Businesses in Chicago’s 002nd District are on alert following a series of robberies that have rattled the local community. The Chicago Police Department has reported that two young male suspects, described as African-American, between 18-20 years old, about 5’05” in height, weighing 100-120 lbs, have been targeting businesses on the stretch of East 53rd Street, according to the official CPD notification.
The first incident occurred on the 1400 block of East 53rd St. on September 15 at around 3:00 A.M., followed by another on September 26 at approximately 8:45 P.M. on the 1000 block. Both incidents involved the assailants brandishing handguns and demanding cash from the businesses’ registers before making their escape on foot, and this series of events has left business owners and patrons in a state of heightened wariness and concern over their safety.
