SWAC report: Jackson State, Florida A&M set up showdown after both hold on for wins

Jackson State jumped out to a big lead and held on to beat Alabama A&M 45-38 on Saturday, but the Tigers looked like they were dominated on the stat sheet.

The Tigers led 38-10 at the half, but the defense couldn’t get off the field in the second half, giving up 28 points. Both teams scored early in the third quarter to make it 45-17 before A&M ran off 21 unanswered points.

Jackson State (4-2, 2-0 SWAC) struggled on offense with two three-and-outs and an interception. But with 2:41 left and a seven-point lead, the Tigers collected three first downs to kill the remaining time…
