San Bernardino Launches “Operation Consequences,” Nets Firearms and Felony Arrests in Anti-Gang Initiative

Over the course of a week from September 28 to October 4, law enforcement agencies in San Bernardino have conducted a series of operations aimed at curbing gang activity and illegal firearm possession. Code-named “Operation Consequences,” these efforts resulted in the seizure of three firearms, and narcotics, and the arrest of four individuals on felony charges. The activities spanned multiple locations, including the 26000 block of Redlands Boulevard in Loma Linda and sections of Los Angeles such as the 4000 block of Trinity Street and the 1200 block of W 39th Street.

The initiative was made possible through funding approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and is intended to deal with quality-of-life issues permeating the county’s neighborhoods. As cited by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the funding will allow for “increased law enforcement services.” Contacted by the investigators were suspects comprising of gang affiliates and other individuals prohibited from possessing firearms during the operation.

As reported in a public notice, the multi-agency task force included members from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Gangs/Narcotics and Specialized Enforcement Divisions, personnel from patrol stations, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, members from the United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and agents from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
