Oklahoma crews are heading to North Carolina to assist with hurricane relief efforts and are preparing for potential impacts in Florida.
Ten people from the Oklahoma State Department of Health are on the road to North Carolina. They are joining multiple Oklahomans who are already helping hurricane victims and gearing up for Hurricane Milton, a Category 5 storm that is expected to make landfall this week.
“So we went up through Georgia, the Carolinas and then up to Virginia to help out our sister company,” said Trevor Gilroy, a lineman with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma. “A lot of flooding, flood-impacted areas. We would build power lines for places that were no longer there — just not a building there anymore. The river had came up and swept it away.”…
