Coroner: Heat did not cause San Jose homeless boy’s death

(KRON) — The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner Office is investigating the death of a 14-year-old homeless boy in San Jose. Officials have not determined the boy’s cause of death, but investigators said they have ruled out hot weather as a factor.

Temperatures in San Jose rose to over 100 degrees during the first week of October . Seven people who died during the record-breaking heat wave may have suffered heat-related deaths, the coroner’s office said.

“The Medical Examiner-Coroner is confirming investigation into seven potential heat related deaths reported October 2-October 7.  Of the seven potential heat-related deaths, two involve the unhoused,” coroner’s office officials wrote…
