South Bend city officials seeking public input on major redevelopment plan

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — South Bend residents are getting a chance to weigh in on a major redevelopment plan that could transform a key part of the Western Avenue neighborhood.

City officials are applying for a $5 million dollar federal grant to help fund the revitalization of the long-vacant Rabbi Shulman building, nearby land, and Monroe Circle.

If awarded, the grant would support the construction of 208 mixed-income housing units and much-needed infrastructure improvements in one of South Bend’s historically underserved areas…
