SAN ANTONIO — Hurricane Milton, now a Category 3 hurricane, is approaching landfall Wednesday as Floridians are still recovering from Hurricane Helene, which tore through the state just last week. Now, victims across several states are in need of blood and platelet donations.
South Texas Blood and Tissue is working diligently with blood centers in states which have received the most damage. The organization has sent more than 100 units of Type O blood to prepare for possible shortages before Hurricane Milton makes landfall; experts say it has the possibility to become one of the worst storms Florida has faced in more than a century.
