Ghoul Brothers’ history of horror is at home in Portage Lakes

COVENTRY — For the past eight Halloween seasons, Ghoul Brothers House of Horrors — at 3235 Manchester Road, Unit X in the Portage Lakes Acme Plaza — has treated visitors to a different kind of haunt, according to owner David Barton.

“A lot of places have a single theme,” he said. “Over the years, the story behind the Ghoul Brothers has developed that they are international travelers who have collected a lot of curiosities, which you see here, along with the stories behind each of them.”

Adding to the psychological impact of the surroundings, Barton said, portions of the trip through the maze of creepy operating rooms, haunted doll-houses and a horrifying slaughterhouse, also make the visitor wonder if they themselves are part of an experiment being conducted by the staff of the “Yummy Bio-Meat Company.”…
