Police chief and injury attorney speak on risks of police pursuits following fatal crash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken over the investigation into a crash that took the life of one woman following a police chase on I-59 involving Bessemer Police Monday.

Calera Police Chief David Hyche said he could not speak directly to the pursuit, but said officer involved pursuits can often be risky.

“It’s a tough situation, it’s a tough call,” said Chief Hyche.
