Serial car burglar, foiled by face tats and in-car cameras, gets 9-year sentence

CHICAGO — A five-time convicted felon has picked up two more convictions after pleading guilty to a string of car burglaries, mainly in the West Loop. Jeffery Morgan’s decision to have distinctive facial tattoos and to occasionally target Teslas that take pictures of everyone who enters the car contributed to his demise.

In June of last year, prosecutors charged Morgan with ten counts of burglary, claiming he had burglarized nearly a dozen cars over several months. Because Chicago cops said they found a machine gun under the seat of Morgan’s car when they arrested him, prosecutors also filed an even more serious charge: Class X armed habitual criminal…
