Harrah’s Casino Attacker Awaits Sentencing After Guilty Verdict

A man who violently attacked his ex-partner while staying at Harrah’s Joliet Hotel and Casino in Illinois is awaiting sentencing. The case involves a 29-year-old man identified with the initials M.J. The young man faced a range of charges stemming from a violent incident that saw him throw punches against an ex-girlfriend and threatening a witness. He was also hit with a robbery charge.

The Suspect Was Found Guilty on Several Charges

The 29-year-old was found guilty on three counts of domestic battery, one count of robbery and intimidation of a witness back in August, Joliet Patch reported. After he was found guilty in the Will County Courtroom, the young culprit is currently awaiting sentencing. The trial of the 29-year-old man is scheduled for next week on October 22, 2024.

For his crimes, the man may receive a lengthy prison sentence. When it comes to the battery counts, the 29-year-old may receive between one and six years of prison time, while the intimidation of a witness charge carries a mandatory prison sentence between two and 10 years. To make matters worse, the robbery charge is also punishable with prison time between three and 14 years. In total, the maximum penalty the 29-year-old man may receive for the violent attack at Harrah’s Casino amounts to 30 years.

The Victim Was Violently Attacked, Suffered from Injuries on Her Head and Body

The violent attack at Harrah’s Casino dates back to February 6. The victim, a 46-year-old woman identified with the initials D.B., filed a report on that day, revealing that her former boyfriend, the 29-year-old man, violently attacked her while staying at the hotel casino. According to the victim, she was attacked earlier in the night.

An investigation determined that D.B. was about to leave her hotel room when she saw her former boyfriend down the hallway. He threatened to kill her and pushed her back into the hotel room. Once the victim was on the floor of the hotel room, the culprit struck her numerous times on her head and body. The 29-year-old man then stole documents belonging to the victim along with cash…
