Shots fired at VSU, university was on lockdown

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Shots were fired in the parking lot of a Virginia State University (VSU) residence hall Monday night, causing the university to go into lockdown.

According to VSU Police, shots were fired in the parking lot of Moore Hall at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. A spokesperson for VSU told 8News that someone reported that they heard gunfire.

The university went into lockdown following this report, beginning around 7:19 p.m., per VSU Police’s initial alert .
