The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for residents of Englewood, warning of a spate of armed robberies that have rocked the neighborhood throughout October. A string of incidents involving assailants demanding personal belongings, and at times vehicles, from their victims has elevated concerns among locals.
According to the Chicago Police Department, there have been several occurrences, the incidents happened at varying times and locations, including the 6700 Block of South Throop St on October 14 at 11:00 AM; 6800 Block of South Loomis Blvd on October 11 at 8:18 PM; and just before these, on the 6800 Block of South Throop St on October 10 at 4:30 PM and the 1300 Block of West 69th St at 12:29 AM, also on October 10, the first of this alarming series took place at 10:00 PM on October 8 on the 1300 Block of West 68th St.
The suspects have been generally described as two or three Black males between the ages of 16 and 23, often cloaked in ski masks and carrying handguns.
