Big Sandy woman sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud

TYLER, Texas — A Big Sandy woman was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

Tamarisk Trejo Mathews, 52, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle to 33 months in prison. She was also ordered to pay $334,252 in restitution after making unauthorized accounting decisions for the restaurant and music venue she worked at in Wood County, Texas.

Mathews opened credit card accounts and wrote checks she was not authorized to make, while wrongfully obtaining money from the restaurant. As a result of her crimes, the restaurant lost a total of $334,252…
