Folsom Police arrest man with thousands of apparent counterfeit pills

Folsom Police arrested a man after finding thousands of counterfeit pills in his home and vehicle. Counterfeit pills such as these are a huge concern because they often contain fentanyl. This crucial arrest comes after several weeks of investigation with the Folsom Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which had been following up on leads regarding the sale of illegal narcotics in Folsom.

On Wednesday October 16th, SIU Detectives served a search warrant on the 2900 Block of McCloud Way in Roseville, the residence of 38-year-old suspect Bentley Mastanka. As part of the search warrant, police also were able to locate the suspect and stop him in his vehicle.

During a search of Mastanka’s vehicle, police say they recovered about 1,000 Xanax pills which are believed to be counterfeit. Further searches of Mastanka’s home recovered 2,000 more counterfeit Xanax pills along with 3,000 counterfeit Adderall pills and over 1,000 Suboxone strips, a large amount of injectable steroids, a .22 caliber rifle and money believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales. Mastanka was also prohibited from owning a firearm prior to this investigation, police said…
