IU, Purdue secure millions of dollars for new downtown Indy facilities

INDIANAPOLIS — During Thursday’s Indiana State Budget Committee meeting, state lawmakers gave Purdue University and IU the go-ahead to spend tens of millions of tax dollars on new facilities in downtown Indianapolis.

“It’s a huge day for our campus,” IU Indianapolis Athletic Director Luke Bosso said.

According to Bosso, IU plans to build a $110 million athletics facility just north of the NCAA Hall of Champions. The roughly 130,000-square-foot facility will boast a 4,100-seat arena for college and high school basketball and volleyball games…
