Both the Patriots and the Jaguars are 1-5 entering their Week 7 matchup in London. Both teams have struggled offensively and have averaged fewer than 20 points pr game this season with New England averaging 13.8 and Jacksonville 18.8.
Sunday’s game comes after Jacksonville suffered an ugly 35-16 loss to the Chicago Bears across the pond, while the Patriots suffered their fifth straight loss in a 20-point defeat to the Houston Texans. Jaguars coach Doug Pederson knows being strong on defense could go a long way in trying to win on Sunday, but referred to the game as a “two-headed monster.”
“Well, it’s important. I think it’s as important too. I think we’re scoring 18 or 19 points offensively. They’re looking at it the same way. If we can keep them under 20, first one to 20 might win the game, right? That’s the reality of it” Pederson told reporters on Wednesday. “So, it is important defensively to go out and play well and try to minimize the scoring. Then offensively that’s our goal. Our goal is to score. So, it’s kind of a two-headed monster, but we’re up for the challenge.”
