West Orange sweeps Windermere for girls volleyball district championship

West Orange High girls volleyball went on the road to Windermere High and topped the Wolverines in straight sets to take home the Class 7A, District 5 championship Oct. 17.

“It feels great; it’s my first in my time here … and it’s the first for the program in a while,” said West Orange coach Matthew Jackson. “The kids worked super hard and they earned this. They’re going to embrace this moment and they’ll be ready for regionals next week, for sure.”

The Warriors (16-4) came out swinging in the first set and set the tone for the evening with a 25-14 win. Windermere (10-11) responded well in the second set, but West Orange was able to hold off the Wolverines’ push and win set two 25-22 to extend its lead to 2-0…
