FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) — Raw Seafoods in Fall River is being accused of hiring child immigrant workers, according to a 24-page complaint filed by Justice At Work and Yale Law School’s Advocacy Clinic.
“The issue of child labor has become quite a pressing one in the seafood industry,” said Zoe Mermelstein, who is apart of the Yale Law Group.
The complaint claims that three former employers were hired at Raw Seafoods in 2022 when they were 15 years old.
“They were working until 2 or 3 a.m. routinely, they were not able to get enough sleep to focus on their school work,” continued Mermelstein. ““They were threatened with physical harm on multiple occasions from their supervisors and also subjected to ethnic discrimination at the workplace.”…
