Community Names School After Dedicated Custodian

Swedeborg, Missouri, has honored a local hero by naming their elementary school’s main building after Claudene Wilson, the longtime custodian.

Students and community members alike praised Wilson’s unwavering dedication to the school for over 30 years. She goes above and beyond her cleaning duties, also assisting with transportation, landscaping, and providing support to students.

“Kids are at your heart,” Wilson said, explaining her motivation.

On August 26th, the school board unanimously approved renaming the building the Claudene Wilson Learning Center. Despite her modesty, Wilson’s impact on the community is evident.

“She’s there for each and every one of them,” said School Board President Chuck Boren.

While many institutions are named after famous figures, Swedeborg recognized Wilson’s exceptional character and service. Student Alex Lein expressed his admiration for her, saying, “That’s what everybody should want to be.”
