Newport antique shop working to salvage items after flooding

COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. ( WATE ) — A Newport antique shop is recovering after suffering severe damage during flooding.

Flatwoods Vintage on East Broadway was filled with mud when owner Greg Mathis got to the store the day after the flooding hit.

“Once we got here and saw that we had 24 inches of water in the store and as much damage as there was, it was pretty much heartbreaking,” Mathis said.
