Rescue teams return home after 13-day mission in NC mountains

Rescue teams from Greenville and New Bern have returned home after a 13-day mission in the North Carolina mountains. Task Force 10, composed of squads from both cities, evacuated people, performed rescues, and conducted welfare checks during their deployment.

Task Force 10 is one of seven search and rescue teams in North Carolina. Their recent missions took them to Polk County, Richmond County, Rutherford, and Chimney Rock.

“We’re very familiar with a lot of flood water in eastern NC, but we weren’t really familiar with mudslides,” a team member said. “For us to go out to the western part of the state and help them out, it was kinda rewarding for the rescuers to give that back.”…
