Officials say a meat recall due to possible listeria contamination now includes ready-to-eat meals sent to U.S. Schools, including the Neighborhood Charter School in Mott Haven. The recall, issued on Oct. 9, includes foods produced between May 31 and Oct. 8. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says eating foods contaminated with listeria can make you sick. Symptoms of infection include nausea fever, muscle aches, and tiredness. Those symptoms can occur quickly or up to 10 weeks after eating contaminated food. No illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall. The USDA lists all potentially affected products on its website.
