Purple Preview: Mount Union aims to maintain momentum in OAC battle against Heidelberg

The #4 ranked 5-0 (4-0 OAC) Mount Union Purple Raiders are set to host the 2-3 (1-3 OAC) Heidelberg Student Princes. Mount Union leads the all-time series 54-13 and has won 35 straight games over the Student Princes. Despite Mount Union’s fall break in session for students, it’ll be a great day for football with a good atmosphere.

“Great,” said Mount Union head coach Geoff Dartt regarding the energy in practice this week. “Coming off a big homecoming game, I think they are continuing that, and we stressed at practice this week that you should just be intentional about everything that you are doing. Do it on purpose and be consistent in that, and I’m excited that they are going to do it tomorrow.”

Mount Union had an offensive explosion last week in their 78-19 over Wilmington. They totaled 684 yards, including 436 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Freshman running back Kayden Minner led the team with 102 rushing yards, while senior Tyler Echeverry ran for three touchdowns while recording a receiving touchdown. It was a dominant performance by a committee of backs that also included seniors Shaun Thomas, Darnell Williams, and Ryan Eiden, who combined for 159 yards…
